In Feb of 2020, the veteran broadcaster announced that the doctors had diagnosed him with kidney cancer. However, Brian decided not to opt for treatment.

This was not the first cancer diagnosis for Henderson. Back in 2014, he battled with throat cancer and had recovered from the illness. Furthermore, he had multiple cancer before that.

Sadly, Brian passed away from cancer on 5 August 2021 at 4:50 am in morning. He was 89 years old in age. 

Various fans and celebrities have come forward to show their respect to the late broadcaster. He left a remarkable contribution to Australian radio and television.
